Rachael South

Rachael South is a third-generation upholsterer, chair caner and textile designer based in East London. Drawing on a family tradition of chair restoration and seat weaving, Rachael combines traditional upholstery and caning techniques with a contemporary approach to furniture restoration and design. Alongside running her workshop practice, she teaches upholstery and chair caning and was one of the restoration experts featured on the BBC series The Repair Shop. Her work has also been exhibited at Heal’s and the Museum of the Home (formerly the Geffrye Museum).

Rachael South will be joining LIWF 2026 to deliver a course and masterclass, as well as joining the LIWF Marketplace on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.
