Derek Jones

Derek Jones is a furniture maker, writer and woodworking educator with more than four decades of experience in furniture restoration, design and commercial manufacture. Formerly editor of Furniture & Cabinetmaking magazine, Derek is also known through his Low Fat Roubo workshop practice, which combines traditional craftsmanship with practical, pared-back woodworking methods rooted in real-world making. Alongside his teaching, Derek builds furniture, marking gauges and cricket tables inspired by historic English forms and hand-tool woodworking traditions.

Derek Jones will be joining LIWF 2026 to deliver a course and masterclass focused on cricket tables and traditional woodworking techniques.
