Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is an increasingly valuable tool for woodworkers, allowing ideas to be developed, tested and refined before work begins in the workshop. In this course, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of CAD, with a focus on its practical application in furniture making and woodworking.
Working step by step, students will learn how to create accurate drawings, build simple 2D and 3D models, and understand scale, proportion and construction in a digital environment. The course will explore how CAD can support the design process, from initial concept through to clear, workable plans.
Through guided exercises, participants will gain confidence using CAD software and develop a workflow that connects digital design with hands-on making.
This course is suitable for beginners with no prior CAD experience, as well as those looking to build on existing knowledge in a woodworking context.
By the end of the course, participants will have developed a set of drawings or a digital model to support their own project work. All course materials are provided, and access to the Marketplace is included as part of the experience.
